“When I was a young man, I wanted to change the world.
I found it was difficult to change the world, so I tried to change my nation.
When I found I couldn’t change the nation, I began to focus on my town.
I couldn’t change the town and as an older man, I tried to change my family.
Now, as an old man, I realize the only thing I can change is myself, and suddenly I realize that if long ago I had changed myself, I could have made an impact on my family.
My family and I could have made an impact on our town.
Their impact could have changed the nation and I could indeed have changed the world.

Like the unknown monk we often don’t realize the real meaning of transformation until we mature a bit.
Transforming the world starts with transforming ourselves.
And maturity doesn’t automatically come with gray hair.
It’s a conscious decision to do things differently.
As an active youngster, well known locally and internationally Gwendell Mercelina II, the Youth Parliament President of Curaçao being 21 years old person also had to pass through many difficult phases and trying times building his career just like any other youngster.
Always with his country close to his heart, he observed and studied what has been going on in the world but with specially focus on his country.
Determined to be part of the solution, with his experience and own style, he came up with the idea to lend a hand in building a new nation with fresh innovative and positive ideas for great changes to come.
But to make a change, we should start focusing on ourselves just like the unknown monk said.
To make a positive change and impact on our building nation, this young man has developed a new concept of tackling above mentioned issues.
He started a concept that could help everyone which is why he is starting this process in his own surroundings.
The concept is titled: WE LEAD
